The main function of the Publications Department is the issue of all publications associated with the activities of the different departments of the Museum, as well as the elements of diffusion.

Among the MNAC publications, constituting the bookshop's main stock, are the guidebooks to the permanent collections of Romanesque and Gothic art and of the Museu d'Art Modern, all published in Catalan, Spanish, English and French.

Moreover, the Museum publishes the catalogues of the temporary exhibitions taking place, at times as sole editor, or as a joint publication with other institutions. Alongside this, the studies and works related with the Museum's activity are published, including the Bulletin of the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, the various issues of which feature studies on art history, museography, restoration and other related subjects.
