The MNAC is taking part in the Partage Plus - Digitising and Enabling Art Nouveau for Europeana project on Modernisme and Art Nouveau. Through this project, the MNAC's collection of Modernisme, one of the most important in Catalonia, will talk directly to the foremost items of European Art Nouveau.
At the end of 2013, more than 2,000 works will be accessible via the Europeana portal, of which about 100 will be in 3-D. A complete view of the collection will be made available, with the most important works in each of the various artistic disciplines: painting, drawing, sculpture, furniture, ceramics, jewellery, medals and engraving.
Represented there will be artists who stand out for their importance or for the number of their works, such as Antoni Gaudí, Josep Llimona, Josep Puig i Cadafalch, Ramon Casas, Gaspar Homar, Isidre Nonell and others, as well as European artists like Henri Meunier, Edward Penfield and Alphonse-Marie Mucha.
Pepe Serra, the Director of the Museum, has stated on several occasions that the MNAC must become a national and international point of reference for Catalan Modernisme because of the importance of its collection. In this respect, our collaboration in this project is a step forward for internationalisation and for showcasing this part of the collection.
