Activity based around the exhibition The Wise Princess. The Paintings of Saint Catherine from La Seu d'Urgell
The debate will focus on one of the peculiar aspects of Catalan art in the 13th century, compared to European art: the long survival of the formulae of Romanesque art in all the techniques and forms of expression, and the late incorporation of the new Gothic style. The growing importance of the monarchy and the nobility in the definition of new subject matter in painting will also be discussed.
